Early last week there was forecast for rain on graduation night.

It seemed that for a second year in a row, the Woodburn High School graduating class was going to celebrate their accomplishments in the rain. But the thunder, lightning and showers that were forecasted just teased WHS Class of 2019 as they waited for their names to be called to walk on stage and receive their diploma. Apart from the dark clouds, cool breeze and occasional wind gust, the weather was perfect. Not a single drop of rain hit the stage or the crowd that gathered at the WHS commencement ceremony.

Gov. Kate Brown was the commencement speaker and after delivering her speech, she personally congratulated every student with a handshake and an occasional hug.

More than 300 students graduated on Friday June 7, 2019 and gathered afterwards on the soccer field for pictures with family and friends. There were a lot of smiles, a few tears of joy and and a strong aura of accomplishment.

The celebration was a great success.  Congratulations Class of 2019!
