Woodburn School District (WSD) sixth grade students recently had an opportunity to explore the outdoors through a WSD partnership with Western Outdoor School, one of OSU Extension Service Partners.
It’s been close to thirty years since WSD students had an opportunity to attend outdoor school but funds from Measure 99, which Oregon voters passed in 2016, made this opportunity possible. Measure 99 takes a portion of the state’s lottery money to fund the Outdoor School Education Fund.
WSD students experienced a three-day adventure at Canyonview Camp in Silverton, Oregon where they learned about archery, plant life and careers in agriculture, among other subject matters.
French Prairie Middle school students attended the week of October 14, and students from Valor Middle School attended the following week.
